Scan Real 3-D Parts with the Geometric Similarity Search
CADENAS offers a new innovative additional function for the geometric similarity search within the strategic parts management system PARTsolutions:
Starting now, the properties of real 3-D parts and components can simply be read into the PARTsolutions software with the help of a laser scanner. With the part information that has been scanned in, a rough model is generated which can be used for the 3-D geometric similarity search.
Finding Parts with the Geometric Similarity Search
The geometrical similarity search by CADENAS uses this model in order to find the respective supplier or own part within the electronic product catalogs, which resembles the part the most. The similarity search can occur both in the company own electronic product catalogs as well as numerous other component manufacturer catalogs.
The results of the geometric similarity search are then shown to the PARTsolutions user in a list which contains the respective percentage of geometrical resemblance. The information displayed as well as the 3-D display enable the user to compare the listed parts with the real part and thus select the fitting 3-D CAD model.
Practical Use-Cases of the 3-D Scanner Function
- The new additional function for the PARTsolutions software solution by CADENAS simplifies, for example, the finding of parts that were removed from a machine and must now be replaced. The user can also find replacement parts which up to now were unable to be placed.
